Third Doctor Vs Twelfth Doctor : What Is A Great Character?

Great actors, matt smith and jenna coleman. 10/10. brilliant.it's a shame the bbc decided to perpetuate the doctor's character forever rather than give him a hero's end and face his mortality.

In particular there is a great, spectacular stunt when an auton is knocked down and falls dramatically, careering down a huge slope, apparently to its death, only to just get straight back up.jon pertwee remains on top form along with an excellent guest cast and all the regulars do well although it is sad that the character of the doctor's 'assistant' liz shaw is replaced. her replacement character jo grant goes on to be a very endearing character but liz shaw was the better companion for the doctor in my opinion with a strong intellect as well as bravery. the addition of captain mike yates is great but perhaps they transferred the strength and intelligence of liz shaw onto yates and passed the glamour and warmth of liz onto jo grant.

If audio dramas are taken into account, she is one of three characters (the other two being trinity wells and the french newsreader) to appear in doctor who, the sarah jane adventures, and torchwood. jo never appeared in the regular doctor who comic strip in tv comic and/or tv action, as katy manning did not want her likeness used in any merchandising. however, world distributors (manchester), ltd were able to feature the character in their doctor who annuals for 1974 and 1975, providing they did not use manning's likeness.

And so we reach the end of another dr who series and with it, bar a one-off christmas special apparently reuniting this twelfth doc with his first self, peter capaldi's tenure in the role. i've enjoyed this latest series very much, due in no small part to the chemistry between capaldi and new girl pearl mackie as bill potts. i'm not keen on matt lucas or his character nardole but it was a delight to see the return of john simm as the master and michelle gomez as missy.told over two episodes scripted by show-runner steven moffat, unsurprisingly this was a deeper, timey-wimey story than usual involving an impossibly large spaceship with a multitude of differing time-zones, the return of my favourite of the doctor's enemies, the cybermen and a doctor striving to avoid his inevitable regeneration.bill's assimilation into an early version of a cybermen was cleverly shown as she portrayed her true self alongside her transformed self whilst her rescue by the water-girl from the first episode made for a neat circular finish to what has been an entertaining series, taking in as it has several excellent episodes like that involving the nano-bots, the terror under the thames, the mystery of the lost roman 9th legion and the return of the ice warriors.not as light or as flashy as some of the earlier episodes, this one took more concentration than usual but repaid its greater demands on the viewer.

For over a year now, when we first learned that matt smith would soon be leaving doctor who and that scottish actor peter capaldi would be his replacement, fans have been waiting to see a new doctor in action. with the series eight premiere episode deep breath, that wish has been granted. so does capaldi's twelfth doctor live up to expectations and what about the episode itself?much of the attention being focused on the episode was in regards to capaldi's new doctor.
