Buffy Summers Vs Xander Harris : What Character Moves To Sunnydale, California With Mother Joyce?

Original, well-written and acted tv show where buffy summers (sarah michelle gellar) moves to sunnydale, california with mother joyce (kristine sutherland). once there, she makes friends with xander harris (nicholas brendon) and willow rosenberg (alyson hannigan). she also meets rupert giles (anthony stewart head), the school librarian.

It has to be none other than sarah michelle gellar who of course portrayed buffy summers from 1996-2003, right from the school girl in the unaired pilot, and of course the real pilot too, to the young mature woman who bowed out in the final episode 'chosen', smg put some much into the character and also created something that everyone could relate to whether it was adolescence or dealing with the problems of love, she was suited to the role and still today is a brilliant actress, however once again the creators have to be credited as well but also the other actors of the show. anthony head for his portrayal of giles, and buffy's watcher, nicholas brendon for xander, who may not have had superpowers but certainly saved the world (6.22 grave), alyson hannigan for bringing willow to life and showing the many dimensions of her character and also showing the choices that have to be made to do with your sexuality. also james marsters for his portrayal of spike, david boreanaz for his role as angel, eliza dushku for faith, amber benson for tara, charisma carpenter for cordelia, emma caulfield for anya and lastly dawn for showing the fears that every teenager faces (no i don't mean being a ball of energy) and the next step in life.

James marster's is a revelation as vampire spike, buffy's former enemy turned besotted admirer. other great villains included season three's mayor wilkins. harry groener brought alot of charm to the role, a character who eerily combined cheery lighthearted humour with barely veiled sinister threat.

It came as a colossal shock to see kristy swanson - best remembered as the limber, athletic cheerleader/vigilante in the title role of buffy the vampire slayer - so gone to seed physically. it was off-putting in the extreme to see how huge she was as lorelei, with her flabby forearms and large, mound-shaped face.i guess i should have been prepared for this. kristy had recently given birth to a son whom she'd had with figure skater lloyd eisler (her skating with celebrities partner) when she was approached about the lorelei role, and she had warned in an interview with tv guide that she would be, quote, a little heavy in the episode.

The rest of the cast, with the exception of james marsters as spike and anthony stewart head as giles do not leave much of an impression with their mostly limited material. xander offers some amusing humour as he begins to adopt the persona of renfield from the dracula mythology yet even the writer marti noxon's commitment to maintaining that persona throughout xander's entranced spell is disrupted at one particularly jarring moment where xander, "slayer-sitting" buffy asks her if he can take her to dracula in exchange for immortality. it's a moment that is poorly acted by nicholas brendon, who is otherwise funny in the episode, and is such a frustratingly unnecessary moment in an otherwise amusing side story.

Nicholas brendon offers comical relief as the incredibly loveable xander harris, the heart of the group who goes throw too many jobs too quickly and is always protective of his darlings buffy and willow. emma caulfield plays the point-blank hiliarious anya, my favourite female character. emma is incredibly talented and delivers anya's lines wonderfully.

Riley finn made regular visits there until it was burned down by buffy in retribution. the sunnydale high school board and the sunnydale police department also appeared to be aware of the supernatural goings-on in sunnydale, and often covered up supernatural events under order from the mayor richard wilkins. when spike and the members of the defunct order of aurelius attacked sunnydale high to kill buffy, principal snyder and the police chief wrote it off to the public as an attack by a gang on pcp; apparently, that excuse had been used before.
