Reed richards' vast intellect causes him to become a giant floating brain, and he takes to calling himself "big brain". reed's brain is destroyed during a battle with doctor doom, but not before he manages to transfer his mind into doom's body. this version of the fantastic four reappeared in the volume ii story arc 'timestorm', summoned by the watcher to persuade the man who would become kang/immortus not to become a threat.

The performance of the film goes to an unbelievably sexy eva green, as the deeply evil, sadistic femme fatale ava lord. green has effortless sex appeal in spades, with raw talent to go with it, and she plays ava to an effing dime, just like the sociopathic, slutty man eating, smirking hyena i remember from the book, like lauren bacall gone bad. joseph gordon levitt stars in another segment as johnnie, a hard luck gambling man who gets on the wrong side of senator roark, played with craggy grinning brutality by powers boothe.

Reed richards wants to investigate the effects of a space storm that he believes could have started life on earth, however, out of cash he is forced to turn to victor von doom, a wealthy businessman, for funding. soon the team is altogether and on doom's space station – richards (the scientist), doom (the money), grimm (the co-pilot), johnny storm (the pilot) and sue storm (a young woman with a nice body). however it all goes wrong when the storm arrives nine hours early and only doom can get safely behind the shields.
