Clarice Starling : Who Did Julianne Moore Play?

Julianne moore, one of my favorites, was a good choice for clarice starling, but the script didn't give her much to do til the end, and the character was changed drastically from the first movie. gary oldman was probably the only actor alive who could pull off the mason verger role, but as i said, the character was a major disappointment. and most surprisingly, the usually-terrific ray liotta turned in what may be his weakest performance to date; but it's not really his fault, since his character was so cliched and poorly written.

Moore also did an excellent job playing clarice starling. the main plot of the story is that we the audience found out where hannibal has been for the past ten years and what brings him back to us. mason verger a character that makes you feel sorry for hannibal for just a little bit.

Unfortunately, jodie foster didn't reclaim her oscar(registered trademark)- winning role as agent clarice starling. that role went to julianne moore. moore's acting is not what one would expect from such a great actress.

This really is a highly enjoyable film and i will refrain from comparing it to the silence of the lambs for a number of reasons. first of all this film can be watched without having seen ‘silence', second of all i do not remember how i liked ‘silence' and third jodie foster has been replaced so that clarice starling is now played by julianne moore, who i think was very brave to play this character. i mean it is a pretty big risk for an actress to play a character that has previously been played by jodie foster.

Before the over-the-top scenes of man-eating wild boars and the final dinner scene (which are only there for shock value), "hannibal" doesn't even sustain enough interest to have good camp value.also, i was disappointed, though not surprised, that the character of clarice starling was so underdeveloped. i know it is unfair to make comparisons, but part of the reason why "the silence of the lambs" is such a great film is because the audience witnesses the events unfold vicariously through starling. it is her vulnerability and inexperience that makes jodie foster's clarice starling not only human and relatable, but also one of the best cinematic heroines of the 90's.

Jodie foster (an actress of unmatched intensity and one-of-a-kind performances) stars as clarice starling, an fbi trainee who is just a week away from becoming a full-fledged agent. at the request of behavior field science agent jack crawford (scott glenn), starling travels to a baltimore psychiatric hospital to meet renowned serial murderer and former psychiatrist hannibal lecter (sir anthony hopkins) hoping to gain insight on how to crack unsolved serial murder casees. from the moment they meet, their relationship is riveting, separated by differing values and a sheet of glass, yet united in eerily intimate ways.

Julianne moore is clarice starling. the role jodie foster played briliantly in "silence". she along with jonathan demme ("silence's" director) failed to return for the second course.
