Prelude: the legend of aang is going from a certain point to somewhere with a goal. all the characters gaining and loosing during the show, there are important moments describing the world and building background story, with lots of surprises during this time. zuko is a brilliant character, so is her sister, azula; aang is learning a lot, we meet very unique and special people.

All these put more details and depth into zuko's character, which i like. he's not a generic antagonist, he does not want to capture aang just because's he's villain. no, he's a flawed, hurt character that seeks redemption, wants to reclaim his honor, wants to be loved or accepted by his father once more.

Aang's pacifism nearly costs him the fight, and in a way it does. he is not able to best ozai, and requires of 'avatar state' to send him packing in this way, it is not aang, our beloved protagonist that is able to best ozai, but rather all the avatars of the past. from this moment, the conflict is mostly resolved.

I thought that dev patel made a wonderfully tortured zuko, and the kids who played aang, sokka and katara played their roles with great poise and pathos. all of the adult roles were well done, too, with great performances for uncle iroh, commander zhao and fire lord ozai. in addition, the movie features beautiful special effects and gorgeous sets and costumes.
