Star rating: ***** saturday night **** friday night *** friday morning ** sunday night * monday morning thor (chris hemworth), who in ancient greek mythology was the god of thunder, finds himself banished from his home planet by his father odin (anthony hopkins) after disobeying him and nearly starting a war with the 'ice killers' (or something like that.) anyway, he crash lands on earth, where he happens upon young researcher jane (natalie portman) and her father erik (stellan skarsgard) who are having their own problems with some local government bureaucrats, which makes him come in handy when he forms a friendship with them after they teach him about earth ways and customs. meanwhile, back on his home planet, his jealous brother loki (tom hiddleston) assumes the throne when odin dies, setting thor on a course to return home and begin a battle to the death that will encompass both planets.

Tom hardy played the role of righteous eddie brock brilliantly, where one would love him most of the times and at the same time feel frustrated at some of the choices he made. him and venom made the perfect yin-yang. riz ahmed as carlton drake created the right menacing auro his character required, despite being a slim, harmless looking guy, he still managed to play the powerful villain role excellently.michelle, as lawyer and eddie's ex-fiance, and reid, as her new doctor boyfriend, supporting eddie were sweet to watch.

Weakened by the actual birthing, carnage was unable to kill the newborn, bonding it to patrick mulligan, a new york city cop. venom named the new symbiote toxin, after himself. fearing that toxin would grow to become someone like spider-man, venom made a temporary alliance with carnage to kill his "grandson", but in the end they were defeated by the combined efforts of spider-man, toxin, and black cat.

Loki sends the destroyer to eliminate his brother, which also threatens the thunder god's new group of mortal friends.you couldn't ask for a better cast: chris hemsworth as thor, anthony hopkins as odin, tom hiddleston as loki and three total babes as jane porter, jane's friend darcy and lady sif -- natalie portman, kat dennings and jaimie alexander respectively. some complain about the asian and african actors in the roles of hogun and heimdall, but hogun always seemed to be modeled after mongol-types. and who says there aren't other races on asgard anyway?

Prepare for jeff goldblum as the grandmaster – the most polite villain we've seen in awhile, and one who looks to be straight out of the 1960's "batman" series. chris hemsworth as thor is one of many returning actors/characters, only this time he really gets to flash his comic timing on top of his thunder god biceps. his love- hate, trust-no trust, see-saw relationship with brother loki (tom hiddleston) is in full force, as is the bruce banner banter with the hulk (mark ruffalo).

Anne believes eddie is no longer bonded to venom after this, and that venom also died in the explosion. however, the pair remain secretly bonded and set out to protect san francisco by killing criminals. the ending was quite interesting because you get to see the introduction of carnage, played by woody harrelson in an extremely weird wig.
