Imagine that!so with a little background on my part i searched my public library's listings and found the two dvds which contain season 5 of the most recent run, which i believe was 2010. seems her appearances in the series started in 2008, when she was only 20, and her last appearance was 2013.karen gillan is amy pond who, as a young girl had her first encounter with the doctor who, when he left, said he would be back in 5 minutes. being a time traveler it is easy to lose track of it and actually returns, in his tardis that on the outside looks like a dark blue police call box, some 12 years later.

For example, you might think that the doctor would learn not to promise to be back in five minutes, but he never does, and his companions suffer for it (madame pompadour, from another moffatt episode, "the girl in the fireplace," lives out her life waiting). it's obvious that the doctor only thinks he is in control; in reality, his time travel is a barely-manageable skid that he can--sometimes--control enough for a rough estimate.the most significant stroke of genius in this episode, though, is the writing of the doctor's new companion, amy pond (and the casting). amy pond, played by karen gillan, is quite good, but caitlin blackwood, who plays amelia pond--amy's younger self--is brilliant.

Great actors, matt smith and jenna coleman. 10/10. brilliant.it's a shame the bbc decided to perpetuate the doctor's character forever rather than give him a hero's end and face his mortality.

Adelaide brooke kills herself in "the waters of mars" to preserve a fixed point in time. in "the angels take manhattan", rory williams and amy pond are displaced in time by a weeping angel; amy allows the angel to send her back so she can be with rory. a gravestone reveals they died, amy at the age of 87 and rory age 82.

And so we reach the end of another dr who series and with it, bar a one-off christmas special apparently reuniting this twelfth doc with his first self, peter capaldi's tenure in the role. i've enjoyed this latest series very much, due in no small part to the chemistry between capaldi and new girl pearl mackie as bill potts. i'm not keen on matt lucas or his character nardole but it was a delight to see the return of john simm as the master and michelle gomez as missy.told over two episodes scripted by show-runner steven moffat, unsurprisingly this was a deeper, timey-wimey story than usual involving an impossibly large spaceship with a multitude of differing time-zones, the return of my favourite of the doctor's enemies, the cybermen and a doctor striving to avoid his inevitable regeneration.bill's assimilation into an early version of a cybermen was cleverly shown as she portrayed her true self alongside her transformed self whilst her rescue by the water-girl from the first episode made for a neat circular finish to what has been an entertaining series, taking in as it has several excellent episodes like that involving the nano-bots, the terror under the thames, the mystery of the lost roman 9th legion and the return of the ice warriors.not as light or as flashy as some of the earlier episodes, this one took more concentration than usual but repaid its greater demands on the viewer.

Twelfth doctor initially stern and ruthless, but in reality kind and forgiving, the twelfth doctor was the first incarnation of the doctor's second regeneration cycle, bestowed upon him by the time lords at clara oswald's urging at the end of the siege of trenzalore. assured of the survival of gallifrey, the doctor was no longer chained down by guilt, becoming a less amiable character, as he no longer needed to cover the pain of what he thought was the extinction of the time lords, with a withdrawn attitude who habitually questioned his own goodness. he often dispensed with niceties in a tense situation, becoming cold and calculative when needed.
