Mark hamill is still excellent as the hero luke skywalker (hamill is not to blame for the problems with his storyline). harrison ford is still perfectly cast as the cocky, but at times insecure han solo, he is good looking with charisma in spades, whilst carrie fisher looks great in that gold bikini, and is ok in the action scenes on endor. david prowse does what is need of him as darth vader, but it's still james earl jones who makes darth vader.unfortunately with the exception of ford, the success of these movies type cast them and despite starting in some interesting movies with a good story and good performances.

After they return to the rebel base, the empire locates the rebels with a droid sent to hoth, and then they invade the area, attempting to find luke skywalker and his friends. the base is destroyed, but now luke must go to dagoba, in search for jedi master yoda so that he may begin his jedi training.once again, mark hammill, harrison ford, and carrie fisher (along with every single actor from the original film) make a return for this enormously exciting sequel. however, their performances have taken a huge step upward, crafting one of the best character-based films ever created.

There are many new additions to the cast; newcomer daisy ridley plays rey, a scavenger who is fascinated by what (30 years later in the film universe) seems to be the myths of the jedi and the rebellion. john boyega, who starred in attack the block, plays finn, a storm trooper disgusted by what he sees. the charismatic poe, who in oscar isaacs's own words is "the best pilot in the entire galaxy", joins him.

The film focuses on rey, played exceptionally well by daisy ridley, as its central character but the supporting cast is great too. john boyega is excellent as finn, a former stormtrooper turned good samaritan, and oscar isaac has a fantastic turn as fighter pilot poe dameron. like the o3's cast these characters are great on their own and they interact well with each other.

One of the stormtroopers is suddenly reluctant to continue massacring the resistance outpost. he doesn't even have a proper name, until poe finds him and christens him finn (john boyega). poe and finn attempt to escape in an x-wing fighter but a new order pilot shoots them down.
