Imagine that!so with a little background on my part i searched my public library's listings and found the two dvds which contain season 5 of the most recent run, which i believe was 2010. seems her appearances in the series started in 2008, when she was only 20, and her last appearance was 2013.karen gillan is amy pond who, as a young girl had her first encounter with the doctor who, when he left, said he would be back in 5 minutes. being a time traveler it is easy to lose track of it and actually returns, in his tardis that on the outside looks like a dark blue police call box, some 12 years later.

For example, you might think that the doctor would learn not to promise to be back in five minutes, but he never does, and his companions suffer for it (madame pompadour, from another moffatt episode, "the girl in the fireplace," lives out her life waiting). it's obvious that the doctor only thinks he is in control; in reality, his time travel is a barely-manageable skid that he can--sometimes--control enough for a rough estimate.the most significant stroke of genius in this episode, though, is the writing of the doctor's new companion, amy pond (and the casting). amy pond, played by karen gillan, is quite good, but caitlin blackwood, who plays amelia pond--amy's younger self--is brilliant.

On several occasions she indicated a willingness to engage in deadly force when necessary, such as commanding a group fighting cybermen, (tv: nightmare in silver) indicating her intent to kill missy, (tv: death in heaven) being prepared to order unit snipers to shoot missy during a later encounter, (tv: the magician's apprentice) and she also once wielded a sword in battle. (tv: the girl who died) in a rare documented example of her using deadly force, clara, during a brief time when her mental abilities were augmented by the doctor to the point where she developed a form of telekinesis, used said abilities to drop a chandelier on a sea devil, supposedly killing him. (comic: clara oswald and the school of death) clara was acutely aware that one danger involving time travel was learning the circumstances of one's own demise.

How far will he go? where does he cross the line? i don't know and i can't wait to see how his role develops!jenna coleman absolutely shines in this episode as clara oswald.

Adelaide brooke kills herself in "the waters of mars" to preserve a fixed point in time. in "the angels take manhattan", rory williams and amy pond are displaced in time by a weeping angel; amy allows the angel to send her back so she can be with rory. a gravestone reveals they died, amy at the age of 87 and rory age 82.
